Travelling isn’t only reserved for your student years!

We never had the opportunity to take a gap year to explore the world when we were younger, but it’s never too late! We’re in our late 30s now, and in 2019 we decided to take the plunge, remove our comfort blankets, leave our jobs and travel this amazing planet in pursuit of learning something new from other cultures — and we’ve never looked back.

We’ve already had some awesome adventures and have been enlightened by the different people we’ve met so far on our travels. It’s more clear to us than it ever has been — our international community is more empowered when various cultures interact, engage and learn through positivity. Even in the lower times during lockdown in Medellin, Colombia, we’re still experiencing and learning (from 2 metres away) about how local culture there is so different to where we are from in the UK and India.

In the UK, it’s been a long standing tradition for those who can afford it, to take a gap year between leaving college and starting university. This is great for many who want one last opportunity to experience freedom before they commit to studying for a degree and then going straight into a life long career. Most careers these days aren’t actually life long, with many choosing to change job types a fair few times in their lives. Many employers are more happy to explore the idea of a career break — you don’t ask you don’t get!
